Reading Update
Zen Pencils: Creative StruggleZen Pencils – Creative Struggle: Illustrated Advice from Masters of Creativity by Gavin Aung Than. Enjoyable graphic novel style book with quotes from creatives such as Frida Kahlo, Albert Einstein, and Nikola Tesla.
Carry On (Simon Snow, #1)Carry On and Wayward Son (Simon Snow, #2)Wayward Son (Simon Snow 1-2) by Rainbow Rowell. Amusing, absolutely NOT Harry Potter (AHEM) story of Chosen One Simon Snow and the wacky shenanigans he and his friends get up to at their British wizarding school (first book). In the second book, he and his friends visit the US over their university holiday and get up to more wacky shenanigans. Ends tidily, unless you read the epilogue, which sets up a sort of cliffie situation for the next book. Grrrr.
Death and Relaxation (Ordinary Magic, #1)Death and Relaxation, Devils and Details (Ordinary Magic, #2)Devils and Details, Rock Candy (Ordinary Magic #4-A)Rock Candy, and Paper Stars (Ordinary Magic, #3.2)Paper Stars (Ordinary Magic 1-2, 4.1, 4.2) by Devon Monk. Ok paranormal romance series about the chief of police and her sisters (also cops) of Ordinary, Oregon, where the gods go to vacation without their powers.

Full lap! 🙂

And a very linkity New Year to you!

Reading Update
Obviously WAY too long since I put one of these together. D’oh!
This Is How We FlyThis Is How We Fly by Anna Mariano. Good YA fiction about a high school student just trying to survive the summer before senior year without her stepmom melting down at her and leaving again. Her best friend gets her into real-life quidditch.
The Poetry of Strangers: What I Learned Traveling America with a TypewriterThe Poetry of Strangers: What I Learned Traveling America with a Typewriter by Brian Sonia-Wallace. I gave up on this about 1/4 of the way through it. I just didn’t care. Perhaps due to my 2020 mood? Not sure.
Dead Lies Dreaming (The Laundry Files, #10)Dead Lies Dreaming (Tales of the New Management 1) by Charles Stross. Initially I was disgruntled about this being set in the Laundry Files world with a new set of characters. But then I got completely sucked in after a while, so… :shrugs:
Mark of the Demon (Kara Gillian #1)Mark of the Demon, Blood of the Demon (Kara Gillian #2)Blood of the Demon, Secrets of the Demon (Kara Gillian #3)Secrets of the Demon, andSins of the Demon (Kara Gillian #4)Sins of the Demon (Kara Gillian 1-4) by Diana Rowland. Ok paranormal series about a police detective who secretly summons demons on the side. But then something goes awry…
Rivers of London Volume 8: The Fey and the FuriousThe Fey and the Furious (Rivers of London 8) by Ben Aaronovitch. Ok addition to this comic book series.
Silent City: A Claire Codella MysterySilent City, Forgotten City (Claire Codella Mystery #2)Forgotten City, and Unholy City (Claire Codella #3)Unholy City (Claire Codella 1-3) by Carrie Smith. Pretty good series about an NYPD detective who’s just returned after 10 months of treatment for lymphoma. (Not sure there will be any more to this series.)
Stuff I've Been Feeling LatelyStuff I’ve Been Feeling Lately by Alicia Cook. Good book of poetry with the first half of the book being the poems and the second half being the “remixes” (blackout versions of the poems).

Linkity’s nearly holding it together

2020 things – I’ll be meeting members of my family in a centrally located parking lot to exchange boxes of gifts with each other in a masked and socially distanced fashion. :sigh:

Reading Update
The Body Is Not an Apology: The Power of Radical Self-LoveThe Body Is Not An Apology: The Power of Radical Self-Love by Sonya Renee Taylor. I definitely need to reread this and journal about the prompts and questions.
The Time of the DarkThe Time of the Dark (Darwath #1) by Barbara Hambly. I enjoyed it as I read it, but I’m not sure I’ll read the rest of the series.

Lights on, nobody home in Chaos land.

Linkity still has whiplash from the weather change this week (72F one day, 30F and snowing the next)

Whole lotta Good Omens fics – it was a stressful week!

“…zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz…” -Mayhem

Linkity is no more caught up or less frazzled than last week

Reading Update
The Gifts of ImperfectionThe Gifts of Imperfection: Let Go of Who You Think You’re Supposed To Be and Embrace Who You Are by Brene Brown. It was good, but I kept getting tripped up by her insistence on faith being nonnegotiable. I adore her podcast, tho!

Reading Update
The Color of Law: A Forgotten History of How Our Government Segregated AmericaThe Color of Law: The Forgotten History of How Our Government Segregated America by Richard Rothstein. Be prepared to be horrified and enraged.
The Library of the Unwritten (Hell's Library #1)The Library of the Unwritten (Hell’s Library #1) by AJ Hackwith. Good enough to suck me in, even though I never shook the comparisons to another series or two.

Flashback photo of Mayhem from 2015!

*INTENSITY INTENSIFIES*

Linkity’s hopeful next week will be less crazy

Keep your fingers crossed on that! 😀

Electric ArchesElectric Arches by Eve L Ewing. Some more haunting poetry from Ewing.
Other Worlds Than TheseOther Worlds Than These edited by John Joseph Adams. Pretty good collection of parallel world and portal stories that started out a lot stronger than it finished.
