On birthdays and book sluttery

Thank you all so much for the lovely birthday wishes yesterday! I took the day off from work and slept in, then spent the day doing pretty much nothing. Ahhh… Late in the afternoon, I met CJ for dinner, conversation, and laughter at Chiang Mai Thai. Very relaxing day indeed.

Of course, the birthday festivities really started a week ago, when Jeanne came over with flourless chocolate cake and yarn. 🙂 On Saturday, my family got together for more cake (my SIL makes a divine gf carrot cake – I promise to get the recipe and post it sometime!) and presents. Um, I might have been living on leftover carrot cake for a few days there… *ahem*

So, I think I detected a theme in my birthday cards. Can you see it?

Apparently everyone’s accepted that I’m a crazy cat lady. Now they just have to get on board with my being a crazy cat’n’book lady, because yesterday I won a prestigious award:

Many thanks to Kris and Tracy! I am honored to join Wendy the Super Librarian, who won this award last time. 🙂

Chaos wasn’t impressed by any of this.

  1. Your card selection looks strangely like mine does on any given holiday;). And, with all this talk about cake, I’m thinking it’s time for some food pics on your blog….:) Glad you had a good birthday!!

  2. Sounds like the perfect way to spend a birthday… Doing absolutely nothing! I give myself the present of a day off every year too.

Congrats on the Book Slut award! My husband saw that and said I should start blogging just so I could enter next year’s contest. Apparently he thinks I’m already one! LOL!

  3. Happy Birthday and many more! I just saw a recipe for a chocolate cookie kind of thing that was described as an afterthought of perfect for those needing GF. I’ll track it down and send, because I’d like to make it, GF or not.

  4. Ack!!!!

    Happy Birthday yesterday…

*Hangs head in shame*… Sorry Chris – I’ve been buried at work and falling into bed when I do get out of here…

Glad you had a nice celebratory dinner with CJ! I’m going to try and get that tag post up as soon as I have a few minutes to sit down and answer all the questions…

    Cool award. 😉 Congratulations.

    Happy Birthday again Chris!

  5. Happy Belated Birthday Wishes! Sounds like you have a wonderful day.

Psst – with 2 black cats in our house it isn’t too much of a coincidence that my husband got the same card you did for his b-day last week (Top Left)

  6. Well, I am glad that you had a wonderful birthday Chris! You sooo deserve it!! And I glad that your family celebrated with you!!! And I do love the theme of your cards, lol!!! Chaos is just jealous that no one put him on the cover of those cards!! LOL!!!
Hope the rest of your week goes just as great!!!! It is hump day… Almost Friday!!! Yay!

  7. Chris- Sounds like a great birthday. Of course, the challenge is finding black cat birthday cards you haven’t already seen.

Crazy cat and BOOK lady- we stand corrected!

  8. Hmmm, cake. I am not sure I’ve had enough cake lately, really!

The celebrating for my husband was spread out over a week too, but I’ve been pretty good about getting the food out of the house as fast as I generate it. He doesn’t need to live on cookies and nothing but cookies for over a week.

  9. GF or flourless carrot cake? Sounds like a good recipe for DS’s GF GF. Meet me at the MSP Amtrak station on Saturday morning with the last piece and I’ll see that Rachel gets it in December.

  10. Gah! I knew it was coming up (and I’ve even picked up a few things to send your way) but I got all caught up in pattern release schedules. Ugghhh! Well, perhaps a birthchristmakah box will make it’s way to you 🙂
