Reading Update
Dreams of Shreds and TattersDreams of Shreds and Tatters by Amanda Downum. I am not really sure why I finished this – I certainly didn’t care for any of the characters and never engaged with the plot.

And I reread books 7-10 of Seanan McGuire’s October Daye series…

  1. LOVE the “Well Behaved Women” quote history. Love both of the BOOMs. Spot on.

Good to know about the Pam issues and storage recommendations. It would be better if kitchen designers designed a kitchen with sufficient storage away from the heat sources, but I guess you can’t have everything.

Wait. You already re-read the Toby Daye books? Geez… now I feel REALLY behind…

  2. The one black cocoa I tried made *every* baked good taste like Oreos–not necessarily bad, but something to keep in mind. I haven’t tried the King Arthur yet. It’s funny, alkalizing the cocoa actually makes it milder (rounds off the acidic edges of natural cocoa), so I’m always amused that the darker color makes people believe Dutch-process is more intense. (They’re not interchangeable in actual baking, but in a recipe with no leavening you can often choose what cocoa you like.)
