A little bit of everything

Hope everyone had a good weekend! I knitted (another bib almost done…), visited my dad and his wife for Father’s Day, got caught up on bloglines, and read quite a bit. Here’s my SRP update:

Widdershins by Charles de Lint, 560 pages. Some resolution to the events started in motion in The Onion Girl. De Lint always leaves me believing there is hope for the world.
Death Masks by Jim Butcher, 373 pages. Book 5 of the Dresden Files. Chicago PI and wizard-for-hire Harry Dresden searches for the Shroud of Turin and runs into an old flame. Enjoyable as always.

I have a question for you WordPress experts out there. A few people have reported that they’re seeing my sidebar stuff on top of the posts. I moved most of the sidebar stuff to a separate page until I get that sorted out. Does anyone have any ideas about what the problem could be?!

Don’t forget – to leave a comment, click on the number to the right of the post title!

For my Knit Sock Kit Swap buddy, my questionnaire responses are here.

Friday night we had some major storms moving through the Twin Cities. I tried to take pictures out the window, but I don’t think I managed to capture the intensity of the storm. These pictures were taken around 5:30 pm, when the wind was gusting to 65 mph or so.

I’m making slow progress on the moderne log cabin crib blank from MDK. I’m about 1/3 done with square #7, although it’s not easy to tell that from my progress picture below…

“Zzzzzzzzzzz… mmmmm… butt blanket… zzzzzzzzzz…”

  1. With Firefox, your pics are a bit big and are sneaking into the sidebar!

Congrats on the new site. With all the problems with Blogger the previous week, I don’t blame anyone from migrating!

  2. Looks like it was perfect knitting and reading weather! Chaos look svery happy with his butt blanket, and he looks nice and full after eating your Cabernet. 🙂

  3. Sometimes your pictures are a bit big – I have been making mine 300×225. I’m going to figure out how to make thumbnails clickable for larger images soon,

I love the storm photos. I really enjoy a good storm 🙂

  4. Maybe I have old lady eyes, but the pictures aren’t too big for me. I have Firefox, and they aren’t pushing into the side bar. Is there such a thing as a picture of Chaos that is too big? I’m in love with him! Love storms too. I like mrspao’s idea about clickable thumbnails. What’ll they think of next?

  5. Your site is displaying just fine for me. I’m on a Mac and using Safari, if that matters.

Weren’t the storms awesome? I love thunderstorms and we’ve been really short on them this year.

  6. It looks okay to me too. Chaos looks quite happy with his butt blanket. What yarn are you using for the Moderne Log Cabin?

Wow, a storm? We’re finally getting some warm weather. Sort of.

  7. I’m guessing the sidebar issues have something to do with the CSS. It is quite likey that whatever browser they are using doesn’t follow the standards for CSS positioning. Though it could be that the CSS for the template isn’t quite up to spec. Either way. It looks fine for me in the latest FireFox and IE 6 that I have installed.

  8. Oh geesh. I haven’t commented on this blog yet because I couldn’t figure out HOW! I fell like such a nitwit.

Love the rain pics. They make me sleepy. That and it’s Monday, which makes me sleepy anyway. 😀

  9. I was lucky and missed most of the rain. Mankato only got a small dump of rain. BTW your side bar stuff appears to work for me.

  10. I’m at work (hey, I can do whatever I want on my lunch hour!) and everything looks fine to me — I’m on a PC with Firefox. And although I haven’t seen this exact post on my Mac at home (with Safari), the previous ones have been fine.

Houston is getting drenched today – we’d like some of that rain in San Antonio.

  11. Hehe cat butt blanket. A true necessity if there ever was one.

I think it’s just the size of the pictures that’s making the sidebar head south.

Send me the storms! I love good strong rains.

  12. It all looks fine to me – but I’m a blogidiot. Just the basics. Glad we missed the storms. I’m a wimp which seems to have passed on to the dog who needs to be tranquilized now during real bads ones. I bet Chaos is brave during storms!!

  13. Yowsers, what a storm! We’ve seen no rain here for a very long time, or at least it seems that way. My poor Japanese maple looks like it’s on its last legs. Too bad, it was such a pretty tree, and there’s no way I’m paying $700 at this point to replace it. Send. Rain. (only not the wind. Thank you.)

  14. You are way techier than me! I’ve been reading I just didn’t know how to comment. Thanks for the tip for the tech impaired (me!).
