WTF Wednesday – the storage solution edition

Jane of Quiddity is having her second annual show her your socks contest! You have until midnight, October 8, to leave her a comment with a link to your photo(s). She will randomly choose three winners, plus have a prize for the most imaginative display of socks. Hmm…. *rubbing hands together and laughing wickedly*

My KnitFlix pal Anna of Knit-Write received her package!

Lest we start thinking that all photo horror lies in the past… May I present to you Ziploc(tm) Big Bags? I purchased a box of the XXL bags (they’re available in XL and XXL). These monsters are 2 by 2.7 feet (60 by 82 cm). Yarn storage solution?! Everything storage solution?!! (“Honey, could you keep little Georgie still for a moment?”) Anyway, I love the model’s expression/pose – doesn’t she look as if she’s trying to disassociate herself from the bag? (“Get this thing the *blip* away from me!!” through clenched teeth…)

Here’s the back of the box, showing the bags in action:

Remember the shoebox I mentioned? It’s probably our number one cat toy. Here’s May pouncing the shoebox, because there’s Chaos to be found:

“Now I’ve got you, big kitty!”

  1. Re: the end of your first paragraph. I’m now a little bit afraid for Chaos and Mayhem. And given the bib stuff, I think I’m right to be…

  2. Wouldn’t be cool if she could put the SUV in the big ZipLoc bag. That would solve a lot of problems…

Did Chaos survive the sneek attack? Or must we stay tuned?

  3. Hehe get him May! If he plays with you he’ll forget all about the problem with his ‘pants’ 🙂 for a while!

Hmm.. bags might solve the ‘Sally, where did that ball of wool go that was on the bookcase yesterday’ problem I’ve been having…. or at least take her longer to drag it off…

  4. I need to get some of those giant ziplocs — my yarn is stored in pretty much whatever bag it came in!

It looks like the kitties are getting along great! And I hope you’re enjoying your stay-at-home vacation….

  5. I bought some of those bags, too; must have been the XXL size. I was impressed with their sturdiness — that they actually seemed capable of holding things as billed! ; )

  6. I haven’t tried the giant Ziplocs but I use the 2.5gal Glad bags all the time. The are the right size for a sweaters worth of yarn or a whole mess o’ sock yarn. =)

  7. Hmmmm, 2 cats, 4 paws each – I figure that’s at least 4 pairs of socks that can be modeled at a time. Well, maybe 5 if you use their tails.

  8. Wow. You could really pack some yarn into one of those baggies. Of course you’d probably fall in and drown when you tried to get the yarn back out again.

  9. My cat has been eyeing up my two new Keen shoe (great shoes, aren’t they?) boxes- I thought it was because they smelled ‘interesting’- I had no idea it was because she’d like to play in it!
I see little May is having a good time as the kitty star for the blog..

  10. I can send you another shoe box if May needs her own. I have to get some of those bags! The gallon size is just not big enough sometimes.

  11. Hehe – big bags 🙂 I think we’ve got some of those as our house is at bursting point! pao saw how much sock yarn I’ve got so I’m in trouble now!

  12. I need those bags! Really! I can put my yarn in some and the dog that strews the yarn about the living room in another!
So, do we get a pic of the shoes that came in said box?

  13. They really are like kids… only furrier. My brothers used to get presents and they’d want nothing to do with the actual toy. Just the box.

  14. Those bags certainly did come in handy before, during, and after our big move. Perfect for storing the ski jackets we used once every three years, among other things. My woolen knits live in them under the bed year round.

  15. I’m going to get me some of those bags. Love the pictures. LOL at the picture of May, you know as soon as Chaos is feeling better it will be payback time. Watch out May!!!

  16. Mom always said the best things in life are free (meaning you pay for the shoes, so technically the box is free). You could spend a thousand dollars on cat toys (and if you’re anything like I am, you probably have), but the kitties would still prefer sitting in a box.

And the Ziploc lady is groovin’ on her Prozac.

Still laughing at AuntieAnn’s and Susan’s comments.

  17. I don’t know… the woman in the picture on the Ziploc box has kind of an evil look on her face… like “ooh, now I can go organize the skeletons in my closet!” It worries me.
