Finally Flatirons

Leave a comment with a post title idea for Romi (before 11:59 pm PDT, March 13), and you could win one of her gorgeous shawl pins!

Ruth is celebrating her blogiversary and mention in Knitty’s Cool Stuff with two contests. For the first, guess how many times during the past year that she’s used a number in her post titles. Leave your guesses by 9 pm MDT, March 17. For the second, participate in Ruth’s “Alphabet Soup” challenge – you could win a $50 gift certificate to the LYS or online store of your choice, plus $26 donated to the charity of your choice!

Please send good wishes to Cyn and her black kitty Cosmo, who is very sick right now.

At long last, I finished my Great Adirondack Flatirons (follow link for yarn and pattern details – I’m feeling lazy). I knitted one sock from each end of the ball of yarn in order to use as much of the yarn as I could. (The whole dividing the ball of yarn into two by weight thing has never worked that well for me.)

*yawn* “More socks? Hey, what’s that over there?” -Mayhem

They look pretty good inside out, too.

“It was a toy! I like it when you get boxes with these fabulous toys.” -Mayhem

Here’s a macro shot, right side out:

  1. If I said that they look “lovely”, do you silently think … “she’s lying” … because you know purple is not my colour?

Life is so simple for cats!

  2. Heh. They’re not my taste in color, either, but they’re beautifully done and I like the pattern. 😉

I find that dividing the yarn by weight works well, but I use the balance at work (and a fresh weigh boat).

  3. Oh. I hate it when kitties get sick.

Which way are you going to wear the socks, inside out or rightside out?

  4. Chris- It never works for me either- I can have 2 balls of exactly the same weight, and for sure, I’d be short on one.

Maybe it’s nature, nothing is perfect (except for cats).

  5. Great colors in that yarn. I actually like the inside out side a little better, but both sides are cool.

Glad there was a tear strip for May. She’s seems to have been suffering from ennui lately.

  6. Poor Cyn. I hope Cosmo gets better quick.

Nice socks! Nice pix too. Sweeney Todd Hair Salon? I don’t think so!

Poor Mayhem. The suffering she endures.

  7. Those socks are so pretty…they look like oil slicks…uh, maybe that doesn’t sound so good. But you know how oil puddles get those lovely rainbows of colors shimmering across their surface? That’s what I mean…

  8. Great socks! I thought of a great contest today, great in that it would interest me now, but not so great because how can you announce a contest now with the answer/prize coming some time in June?????? (How long will there be snow in the big snowpile at work?)
