Some things that make me happy

  • Family and good friends (most definitely including you, my lovely blogfriends)
  • Walking around Lake of the Isles on a sunny summer day

  • Living in Minneapolis…

  • Which has nifty things like hybrid electric buses…

  • And quirky lawn art

  • And, of course, my silly kitties!

“Are you sure you want to call me silly, Mom? Absolutely, positively sure?” -Chaos

“Silly! Well, I never.” -Mayhem

Thanks, everyone, for your kind thoughts and words yesterday. I think getting out in the sunshine with my camera did help a bit.

  1. Ooooh, I love your clouds! My mother and I always call stuff like that “slob lawn art”. Glad to hear your feeling more like yourself.

  2. Those people are lucky not to live next to the narcissistic jerks next door. They had the cheek to ask us to take down the kid’s scarecrow when it was still between Halloween and Thanksgiving. I think I’ll go knit a voodoo doll!

  3. Crisp, bright blue and green orderliness juxtaposed with quirky lawn art and silly kitty poses? Even I’m sitting here with a bit of a smile on my face.

Enjoy the day and where it takes you. Minneapolis looks like a lovely city.

  4. Aw, I’m glad you’re feeling better! Those cheery things make me happy too. Don’t forget the first taste of a freshly brewed coffee (or mocha…), and a really, really good book.

And yes guys, you are silly, but in a good way!

  5. Have yet to see one of the green buses in the northern burbs….of course now that we are getting at least 1 train, we may not need them.

I’m beginning to think this string of nice days in a row is all a very nice dream.

  6. Baltimore supposedly has hybrid electric buses too – only one line on the whole system tends to use them. Hopefully all will be replaced with greener buses in the near future.

And that sky is glorious! Looks like a painting.

  7. I love your photo tours, too. There is a house on West Minnehaha Parkway (north side/westbound) that used to have a line of flamingos in their yard every summer. But the horse is an inspired touch 🙂

  8. Those lake/cloud pictures are amazing. The clouds here last night were awesome; I stood outside and watched them for a long time. I LOVE looking at clouds.

  9. Great photos of Lake of the Isles! I really enjoyed going to college in the Twin Cities; they are a great place to live.

And yes, May, kitties who sit with their back legs like a frog are silly.

  10. Now I have that song stuck in my head, “Who could ask for anything more?” Hehe. Great pictures as always! I LOVE the reflection shots.

  11. Lovely photos! I do wish we had nifty hybrid buses. Actually, I wish our bus system was better in general.

I don’t know that I would call them silly. Unique, perhaps. Entertaining, certainly.

  12. Let me guess – you took your lake pics down at Lake of the Isles? (You have to think more Mary Tyler Moore than Apollonia, furiousball, Lake Minnetonka doesn’t have walking paths!) Did you go to Uptown and do some people and window watching? That always cheered me up to no end.

  13. Glad you’re feeling better. Getting outside in the sunshine and fresh air usually helps me. I love the quirky lawn art, especially the horse and flamingos. 🙂

  14. Hybrid electric buses?!? I’m jealous. We have some buses but mass transit here is a joke. 🙁

great photos of the lake! and tell Chaos that “Silly Kitty” is just another way of expressing love and affection 😉

  15. So glad you’re feeling better! Looks like a lovely day was had, I think one would have to be extra-super-down in the dumps to not be cheered up by the walk, the lawn art, and those cats.

  16. ABSOLUTELY! I was actually IN Minneapolis last week (Wednesday through Sunday) and had the pleasure of going to visit my nephew who lives near Calhoun. Of course ALL the lakes are beautiful. I do love “coming home” (you know, I adore Madison – but its similarity to Mpls. figures in, I can tell you). Yep, I have lakes and two kitties to cheer me up here too (only Evangeline looks like May and Chaos, Lilliane’s a brown tabby, but we can’t all be perfect).
