Playing catch up

At some point last month, I got really behind in posting some things, so I’m going to try to catch up. Maybe if I get caught up with last year, I’ll feel ready to look ahead to this year.

We had our work white elephant gift exchange in early December. You will be amused at what I came home with!

“I hope these aren’t real cats, because they have atrocious fashion sense.” -M

TB sent me a tasty birthday/winter care package – belated thanks, TB!

“Hmph. None of this is catnip.” -M

My neighbor gave me a really cute little ornament that much intrigued the cats.

“I wonder when I’ll get to the squishy soft center?” -C
“Whatcha got there, big kitty?” -M

“Big kitty, I don’t think there is a squishy soft center…” -M

The ornament was rescued and hung out of reach.

For Christmas, I received One Skein Wonders from my brother and SIL. This book has some really cute projects in it and will probably be  a lifesaver for last minute holiday and baby gifts. As an added bonus, unlike the book One Skein, all of the projects in this book actually only use a single skein of yarn. 😉 On the left are some great little knitterly cards that my other friend Deb made for me – thanks, Deb!

“Still no ‘nip – what’s up with that?!” -M

  1. Eee! I’m first to comment! I also own One Skein Wonders, and I’ve made several hats so far, which you can see in my latest blog post. It’s a great book, especially for me and my very random yarn stash. Chaos and May are adorable as usual. 🙂

  2. Nice loot! But it seems those kitties are dropping some pretty strong hints. I hope they got some nip in their stockings!

  3. I’ll have to check out One Skein Wonders. Looks like a cool book.

My kitty Zoe likes to ‘explore’ ornaments, too. She also enjoyed the occasional light from the Christmas tree this year! Thank goodness we didn’t have to go to the vet!

  4. Okay, I am officially gonna burglarize your condo for that mug. Gotta have it. btw, the kitties on the mug and plate look like Kliban kitties — are they? I love his meat loaves, er, cats.

  5. Love the purple bow on the kitty-ware. Those would be treasures over here – of the human little girl kind. Good haul. See you tonight!

  6. Poor kitties, no cat-nip, maybe Fuzzybritches will have to send you some, along with a magnet I was going to send your mommy oh…eons ago. 😉

  7. Fun stuff! I wonder how Chaos would look in a big purple bow? (No! Don’t bite me, Big Kitty! It’s just a joke.)

I love how your cats are always so involved with everything. Our rescued cat is of the disdainful type.

  8. Poor catnip deprived kitties! Are they in a detox program or something? That LOVELY dishware reminds me of some kitty pins I have from the 60’s. And, around here (Maine, Massachusetts) we all call that type of gift exchange a Yankee Swap. (where everybody gets a number and goes around and can keep the gift they chose or one that was opened previously, right?). Numero uno is the best to have for this! One of our work friends hosts one of these along with a Mexican fiesta (really good food!), usually around xmas, but in Feb this year. Highlight “gifts” last year were a Mao Tse Tung lighter, a hen and chicks toy, a sand stuffed lobster toy, maybe a bottle of wine (usually is one of these), hair and a partly decomposed horn from an antelope (we took this home!…bunch of biologists, you know?). I got a total charge out of one of the ones we brought…though nobody else did. It was a box with a new (cheap) life vest, and a box of sardines, and a map of Alaska. The Alaska Cruise kit, bon voyage!

  9. I just saw that book the other day and thought it was a great one skein book. I do like the stuff in the other skein book, but you are right, what’s up with multiple skeins for a one skein book?

Silly kitty, ceramic ornaments don’t have soft centers!

  10. Poor ornament. Kitties had fun though 🙂

Would you recommend One Skein Wonders? I borrowed the old One Skein from the library and didn’t like it at all. Loved Mason Dixon and Last Minute Knitted Gifts which I have.

Not sure what century our library will get this one……and it looks so good 😉
