Feline groovy

Rachael’s cat Digit returned after being long given up for dead! However, he requires surgery and a lot of other medical care, and Rachael and Lala don’t have that kind of money right now. So Rachael decided to have a raffle – donors to be entered in a drawing for one of three sweaters that Rachael knitted – one of which is from a Philosopher’s Wool kit. However, since enough money to cover Digit’s care was donated in the first 24 hours (knitbloggers really do rock), Rachael’s going to donate extra monies to the Milo Foundation and the Best Friends Animal Society. So if you’d still like to participate in the raffle, you can – the drawing will be July 7.

Reading Update
Three Junes by Julia Glass. My 6th TBR Challenge book, finished on the last possible day of June. Whew! I highly recommend this National Book Award winner.
Knockout Mouse: A Bill Damen Silicone Valley Mystery by James Calder. Bill Damen is a documentary filmmaker in Silicone Valley working on a publicity film for a biotechnology firm after the dot.com bust. This is the first book out of three (so far?) and I have the other two on reserve at the library.
All Together Dead by Charlaine Harris. The latest Sookie Stackhouse book continues is a speedy and enjoyable read. I definitely like Sookie better than Anita Blake these days…

A Few More Things…
I’m a bit shocked at the blogging backlog I’ve developed – I need to post lots of thank yous for some wonderful gifts I’ve received, plus I haven’t even made it to the Estes Wool Market in my vacation narrative! So of course, I shall do neither of these things today. Instead, a few more things I purchased on vacation

“Mom, you’re really sure that Vanna’s retiring and I’m in the running?” -Mayhem

“Because I’m not sure how I’d look in an evening dress…” -Mayhem

“One black kitty, two black kitties, three black kitties… Why are there so many more white kitties than black kitties on your new PJs, Mom?!” -Mayhem

“Hmm, you have a point there, Mayhem. Mom?!” -Chaos

“Mom? I’m waiting.” -Chaos

  1. Three Junes was a good book!
I love your new PJs and that mug is fabulous. You shop well;-)
Mayhem…you’ll get the job, hands down;-)

  2. Cute jammies! They do need more black kitties though. 😉
I love the tail going up the handle on the Catffeinated.

May you’d make a great Vanna.

  3. Hahahahaha thanks to the comments I noticed the caffeinated catchen tail… I’m slow. Maybe I need caffeine 😉

Vanna’s retiring? Man I get all my news through blogs.

  4. The internet crypto bake sale for Digit and Rachel was so cool — Erika (who invented the “internet crypto-bake sale” name) of redshirtknitting.com also had a raffle, which I won(!)

    Three Junes = great book.

May and Chaos are hilarious as always. They, meaning you, make my day!

  5. Great news about the return of Digit. What an incredible story! May and Chaos are right – there aren’t enough black cats on those PJs!

  6. I LOVE that mug!

Glad that Digit came back. My Karma kitty went missing last week but turned up a couple of days later hungry and just as crabby as ever.

  7. For me, the Sookie books can remain lighthearted and funny, even as the characters and plots acquire depth and more dilemmas. Anita has become almost a completely different person… (not that I’ll stop reading). Love the mug!

  8. Love the mug! Cute jammies, too.

Chaos may look disgruntled, but I’m sure he’s just glad he didn’t have to model your new pjs.

  9. I love that mug! It looks to be the perfect size for tea/coffee while reading the morning blog-posts.. (so you don’t have to stop to refill mid-blog)

  10. That coffee mug is adorable. So are the PJs. If Chaos keeps complaining about lack of black kitties just explain to him that black kitties are more rare, which makes him more special. If he still complains, tell him it’s because you’ve taken a liking to white cats and he needs a trip to the salon for a bleach job.

  11. looks like things have been rather busy in the land of chris, chaos and mayhem…

how is life? it’s quite stressful down here lately what with work and br being a bit of a (excuse my french) d*uche :S.

but it’s sunny so i can’t complain too much 🙂 i have a burn (i’m starting to look orange) but i’m tan! yay! no cancer for me though… lol

tell the kiddies i said hello!

  12. I think Chaos needs to have a word with Diablo over those PJs 😉 Ahh.. May in an evening dress, chartreuse green to match her eyes, with sequins… my visual mind is clicking overload on that one.

    Wonderful story about Digit!

  13. I love the mug. Hilarious.
Tell the kitties that black cats are so much cooler than white cats that they had to put about 3X more white cats on just to level out all the black cat coolness.

  14. Just wanted to thank you for linking to Rachael’s blog for the Digit story. This has really touched me and I want to be involved, even if the surgery is paid for. It’s never too late to send out a thank you for all the furred ones that have made my life so rich.

  15. I wish I could get Harley to pose as well as May and Chaos do. Obviously, Harley’s not in the running for Vanna’s job, although May’s an expert!

  16. That is so cool about Digit! And Rachael.

I MUST HAVE THAT MUG! Mayhem is so much better than Vanna any day of the week.

Love the look Chaos is giving you.

  17. Um. Ok. So, I was thinking today was Sunday. And there would be no entry. (It’s a holiday up here.) *sigh*

Anyhoo! Love the mug! And the PJ’s! And May looks so serene and cute modelling the coffee mug. 🙂

  18. I have to check out Rachael’s blog…that is too awesome a story.

Tell Chaos that Tim says there are no orange kitties at all on the PJs!!

  19. I’m sorry to hear about Digit. We had a cat come home once and it needed 3 surgeries and finally an amputation. that is very sad.

Love the mugs. And the cats ain’t bad either.
