Rafflecopter ebook giveaway: King John (The Lost & Founds #4) by Edmond Manning [CONTEST CLOSED]

Welcome to this stop on Edmond Manning’s King John Book Release Party Blog Tour! (Please note that you have to follow the Rafflecopter link below to enter this contest. Comments on this post, while much appreciated, will not count as entries. Thanks!)

English attorney Alistair Robertson can’t quite believe an astonishing tale of kingship and transformation he hears at Burning Man, the annual counter-culture art festival in the Black Rock desert. Who are the Found Kings? Is “being kinged” as magical as it sounds?

Determined to find the mysterious garage mechanic named Vin who helps men “remember who they were always meant to be,” Alistair catches his quarry amid the extravagant sculptures, fire worshipers, mutant cars, and lavish costumes. After searching for three years, he’ll finally get to ask the question burning inside him: “Will you king me?”

Wandering together through the desert, Vin Vanbly and Alistair explore Burning Man’s gifting culture and exotic traditions, where they meet the best and worst of their fellow burners. Alistair’s overconfidence in Vin’s manipulative power collides with Vin’s obsessive need to save a sixteen-year-old runaway from a nightmarish fate, and the two men spiral into uncontrollable, explosive directions.

In this fourth adventure of The Lost and Founds, beneath the sweltering summer sun and the six billion midnight stars, one truth emerges, searing itself on their hearts: in the desert, everything burns.

Ebook giveaway: Otter Chaos by PD Singer [CONTEST CLOSED]

Many thanks to PD Singer for donating an ebook copy of her forthcoming paranormal m/m romance, Otter Chaos, for a lucky commenter to win! Otter Chaos will be released by Rocky Ridge Books on October 9. (The book is only $0.99 if you pre-order it prior to its release date.)

Lon Ewing snowboarded in and turned economist Corey Levigne’s life upside down, introducing him to a world he didn’t know existed. Corey’s still adjusting to a boyfriend who shifts into an otter and raids the koi pond – and now Lon says Corey’s department chair is a werewolf?

Wolves at the university, wolves in the bank – across Lon’s desk sits Professor Melvin Vadas and his hench-wolves, demanding a construction loan for the pack’s new lodge in the mountains. There’s just one little problem: the proposed building site is home to a breeding population of rare fish.

What do wolves care for stupid human rules, an otter who’d barely make a good snack, or one pesky man determined to protect the environment? Once they’re snout to snout with Corey and Lon there’s more than silverscale dace on the Endangered Species list.

Includes Tail Slide
Fresh powder snow and running water in the Colorado back country call Lon like the moon calls the wolves. Belly-sliding to a good time on the weekends makes up for a workweek at a desk, and meeting Corey adds a whole new level of fun to snowboarding.

It’s easy to slip away for time alone in the woods without raising suspicion, but how’s Lon to entertain himself when bad snow and a worse spill force them off the mountain too early?

Never give an otter a box of Cheerios.

About PD

PD Singer lives in Colorado with her slightly bemused husband, two rowdy teenage boys, and thirty pounds of cats, all of whom approach carefully when she’s in a writing frenzy. She’s a big believer in research, first-hand if possible, so the reader can be quite certain PD has skied down a mountain face-first, been stepped on by rodeo horses, acquired a potato burn or two, and will never, ever, write a novel that includes sky-diving.

When not writing, playing her fiddle, or skiing, she can be found with a book in hand. Her husband blesses the advent of ebooks — they’re staving off the day the house collapses from the weight of the printed page.

You can follow her adventures on her blog and on Facebook.

Reading Update
Art Journals and Creative Healing: Restoring the Spirit Through Self-Expression by Sharon Soneff. Ok book with example art journal pages from different women who used art journaling to help themselves through physical, mental, and spiritual challenges. I’ve never really understood the whole spiritual/religious thing; YMMV.
Art at the Speed of Life: Motivation and Inspiration for Making Mixed-Media Art Every Day by Pam Carriker. The best thing about this book is all the detailed information about making layered backgrounds for mixed media. Unfortunately, it also made me realize that I am probably not patient enough to make those sorts of backgrounds. Oh well. I started to skim about halfway through when I found myself nodding off.

Ebook giveaway: Nothing Serious by Jessica Jarman [CONTEST CLOSED]

Many thanks to Jessica Jarman for donating an ebook copy of her freshly released m/m romance, Nothing Serious, for a lucky commenter to win! (While this is the fourth book in Jessica’s Bound series, you do not need to read the other, non-m/m books first.)

Aaron Stevens likes his life the way it is. As a surgical resident, he is perfectly content with the fact that the precious hours he has outside the hospital revolve around taking care of his mother and sister. He doesn’t have the time or inclination for a serious relationship. So the fact his lover lives halfway around the world and is fine with jetting off to exotic locales a couple times a year for a few weeks of hot sex is as close to perfect as he can get.

The last thing Jack Hayes ever expected when his best friend got involved with an American was to hook up with her son. And he sure as hell never imagined it would continue for as long as it has. For years, he has been at Aaron’s beck and call, satisfied with submitting to him whenever Aaron and his busy life allow. But, after a change in his family’s company that has him looking for a new job, and possibly moving, Jack has begun to examine what he really wants in life and isn’t sure stolen moments here and there are enough anymore.

When Jack arrives to attend Aaron’s sister’s wedding, keeping what he and Aaron have a secret begins to take its toll. Aaron is unwilling to come out to his family, afraid of hurting them and ruining what should be the happiest the closer he comes to losing everything.

About Jessica

Jessica Jarman is an author, blogger and rather obsessive fangirl. Having grown up in Upper Michigan and currently living in Minnesota, she’s a Midwestern girl through and through. And wouldn’t have it any other way.

When Jessica’s not working to get words on the page, she passes the time with her amazing husband and four children, attempting to be crafty (and failing miserably), squeeing uncontrollably over my favorite shows or curling up with a good book. You can find out more about Jessica and her books at her website, blog, Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, and Goodreads.

“Fud! Fud! Fud! I am starving! I haven’t eaten for years!!!!” -Chaos to the catsitter

Monday, Monday, Monday – why is there always a Monday?

I have to admit, I’m finding it increasingly challenging to get motivated to put together Misadventures posts. (I’m going to guess this isn’t a surprise to most of you, based on how few Misadventures posts I’ve made in the last few months.) Thoughts on the lack of Misadventures, anyone?

But hey, how about some recent art journal pages instead? 🙂

And a cute bonus picture of some black kitties!

Also, this week, I’m featuring Chaos and Mayhem photos that the catsitter took last week while I was in Cleveland. 🙂

“I am deeply suspicious of your intentions, person who is NOT MOM.” -Chaos

Back from Cleveland! Did you miss me? :)

Congrats to DebraG, who won Duck! (2nd ed) by to Kim Dare!

I was in Cleveland for work from Tuesday midday until late evening yesterday. (The kitties were well cared for while I was gone, but they’re happy I’m home. That may still change to them being mad that I was gone, however.)

I saw the world’s largest outdoor chandelier and took a terrible picture of it:

The Comfort Inn we stayed at was only a block or two away from the chandelier and my coworkers and I decided it probably started life as something other than a Comfort Inn. This was our clue:

My coworkers were all on the third floor and all had these very unusual bathrooms. I stayed on the second floor and had a very normal bathroom (not pictured).

Reading Update
Raw Art Journaling: Making Meaning, Making Art by Quinn McDonald. I really liked this one – creative ideas to use in one’s journal, without a lot of focus on expensive materials and fancy techniques. As the author notes, “…a journal is the place to be free and imperfect…the place where being ‘you’ is enough.”

Misadventures in Stock Photography: Part the 246th (The brief return of DMMGOTBG)

Congrats to Al, who won To Love a Traitor by JL Merrow! To Love a Traitor will be released by Samhain Publishing on September 15.

Welcome to another edition of the Misadventures in Stock Photography! Today we’ll be catching up with Don’t Make Me Get Out the Belt Guy (DMMGOTBG) in an exceedingly brief Misadventure. (Please note that there won’t be any contests or linkity this week, although there will be a brief Friday post explaining why. I also won’t be commenting on blog posts or keeping up with tumblr or any of that stuff. Next week things will be back to normal!)

DMMGOTBG was surprised to find himself at such a

Sidney Crosby (3rd Edition) by J Alexander Poulton. While the writing in this book verged on painful at time, there were definitely tidbits in it that I hadn’t read anywhere else.

Many thanks to Kim Dare for donating an ebook copy of her freshly rereleased kinky paranormal m/m romance, Duck! (2nd ed), for a lucky commenter to win!

Raised among humans, Ori Jones only discovered he was an avian shifter six months ago. Unable to complete a full shift until he reaches his avian maturity, he still can’t be sure of his exact species.

But with species comes rank, and rank is everything to the avians. When a partial shift allows the elders to announce that they believe Ori to be a rather ugly little duckling, he drops straight to the bottom rung of their hierarchy.

Life isn’t easy for Ori until he comes to the attention of a high ranking hawk shifter. Then the only question is, is Ori really a duck – and what will his new master think when the truth eventually comes out?

Please Note: This is the second edition of this title. It has been tweaked and re-edited but the plot has not been changed.

About Kim

Kim Dare is a full time writer from Wales (UK).

First published in December 2008, Kim has since released more than 75 BDSM erotic romances. That means that well over one hundred characters have chattered away inside her head during that time – and that’s not even taking into account the fact that there are over three times that number of people clamouring in the wings for a chance to tell their stories. It’s no wonder she loses track of what’s happening in the “real” world at times…

While Kim’s stories range over male/male, male/female and all kinds of menage relationships and have included vampires, time travelers, shape-shifters and fairytale re-tellings, they all have three things in common – kink, love and a happy ending.

You can visit Kim at her website and her blog.
