Misadventures in Stock Photography: Part the 201st (The return of the return of the return of the return of Torso Guy)

Welcome to another edition of the Misadventures in Stock Photography! Today we’ll be catching up with Torso Guy… again. 🙂

The

knew to

, but because of their amazing

and how they kept everything

, neither of them had been prepared to be

while they were hanging out in the

with

, admiring

, basking in his amazing

, and discussing why

when you’re

, until they were unceremoniously interrupted by

, who stopped to offer them some

via the

company.

I recommend taking a moment until you’re less dizzy from reading that before you go on with the rest of your day. 😉

Before
You can’t tell from the picture, but that toilet was very low and also almond-colored. The light switch for the main bathroom light was a dimmer switch (one of eight (!!!), now all replaced), which made the lights buzz. It’s not easy to take pictures of my wee bathroom, but… Here’s what it used to look like:

While that vessel sink looked great, it was just too low for me. Plus the vanity developed numerous cracks over the dry winter, so the sink wasn’t level anymore and started to leak. Also, the paint on the walls doesn’t look that dark in these pictures, but combined with the tiny frosted glass single-candelabra bulb light fixture (on the wall above the toilet, not in frame)… I could barely see myself in the mirror! Also, the grout was an assortment of different colors – red-brown, light gray, dark gray.

After
I sealed all the grout using a medium-gray tinted sealer (tinted sealer looks great, but it is sooooo much work), had the walls repainted a much lighter gray-green (SW Rare Gray), had the low almond toilet replaced with a “comfort height” white toilet, had the low sink and vanity replaced with a taller but less wide sink and vanity, had the ineffective single-candelabra bulb light fixture replaced with a three-bulb fixture, switched out the (black) dimmer switches and a white, now black, GFCI outlet… Much better now!

Ebook giveaway: All Kinds of Tied Down by Mary Calmes [CONTEST CLOSED]

Many thanks to Mary Calmes for donating an ebook copy of her forthcoming m/m romance, All Kinds of Tied Down, for a lucky commenter to win! All Kinds of Tied Down will be released by Dreamspinner Press on July 4.

Deputy US Marshal Miro Jones has a reputation for being calm and collected under fire. These traits serve him well with his hotshot partner, Ian Doyle, the kind of guy who can start a fight in an empty room. In the past three years of their life-and-death job, they’ve gone from strangers to professional coworkers to devoted teammates and best friends. Miro’s cultivated blind faith in the man who has his back… faith and something more.

As a marshal and a soldier, Ian’s expected to lead. But the power and control that brings Ian success and fulfillment in the field isn’t working anywhere else. Ian’s always resisted all kinds of tied down, but having no home – and no one to come home to – is slowly eating him up inside. Over time, Ian has grudgingly accepted that going anywhere without his partner simply doesn’t work. Now Miro just has to convince him that getting tangled up in heartstrings isn’t being tied down at all.

About Mary

My name is Mary Calmes and I have been writing since I was in the seventh grade. One of my first stories ever was about Demetrius and Konor, two big strapping gorgeous knights and while it was not historically accurate in any way, hello, seventh grade, the one thing that became glaringly obvious was that the guys liked each other more than the damsels in distress they were trying to save.

“Boys don’t sleep in the same bed when they’re grown-ups,” my mother said when I read it to her.

“Men don’t talk nice to each other like that,” my step-father said that night.

They do in m/m fiction which I was destined to write.

I tried really hard to write a female lead but it just left me flat. I read all kinds of different books and I have favorite writers in every genre but I can only write about men. The dynamics between two men are more interesting to me and as a woman, I like men and the idea of two men together, two beautiful men… I don’t understand the question.

When people tell you that they’ve enjoyed something you’ve written, there really is no greater feeling.

Ebook giveaway: No Angel by Clare London [CONTEST CLOSED]

Many thanks to Clare London for donating an ebook copy of her freshly released m/m paranormal romance, No Angel, for a lucky commenter to win!

Felix’s life is full, juggling a supportive homelife for his disabled brother, a job as a care home assistant, a brand new boyfriend – and now he’s had his arse pinched by a lewd gay ghost on the late night bus!

If only that were the end of it. But Bryn the ghost follows him home and wheedles himself into Felix’s life. That includes sharing his shameless opinions on the patronising way Felix treats his brother, on how Felix should eat more food and put some flesh on his bones, and – worst of all – exactly how Felix should be getting down to it with his seriously sexy new boyfriend Mickey! And in between all that, Bryn finds time to leer at Felix himself and make outrageous suggestions on what they’d be doing if Bryn wasn’t…well…ghostly.

Felix considers he’s a tolerant guy. But the last thing he needs now is to get wrapped up in the mystery of a missing teenage girl, the inhabitants of a local squat, and conversations with a fire-and-brimstone old preacher. Yet with a nudge or six from Bryn, the help of his brother Patrick, and some cosy loving from Mickey, Felix starts to wonder how he ever thought his life was busy before!

About Clare

Clare took the pen name London from the city where she lives, loves, and writes. A lone, brave female in a frenetic, testosterone-fueled family home, she juggles her writing with the weekly wash, waiting for the far distant day when she can afford to give up her day job as an accountant. She’s written in many genres and across many settings, with novels and short stories published both online and in print. She says she likes variety in her writing while friends say she’s just fickle, but as long as both theories spawn good fiction, she’s happy. Most of her work features male/male romance and drama with a healthy serving of physical passion, as she enjoys both reading and writing about strong, sympathetic and sexy characters.

Clare currently has several novels sulking at that tricky chapter 3 stage and plenty of other projects in mind… she just has to find out where she left them in that frenetic, testosterone-fueled family home.

All the details and free fiction are available at her website. Visit her today and say hello!

You can also visit Clare at her blog, website, FacebookTwitter, and GoodReads.

Ebook giveaway: Diversion (2nd ed) by Eden Winters [CONTEST CLOSED]

Many thanks to Eden Winters for donating an ebook copy of her forthcoming rereleased m/m romantic suspense, Diversion (2nd ed), for a lucky commenter to win! Diversion will be released July 4 by Rocky Ridge Books.

There are good guys, bad guys, and then there’s Lucky.

Former drug trafficker Richmond “Lucky” Lucklighter flaunts his past like a badge of honor. He speaks his mind. doesn’t play nice, and flirts with disaster while working off his sentence with the Southeastern Narcotics Bureau. If he can keep out of trouble a while longer he’ll be a free man – after he trains his replacement.

Textbook-quoting, by the book Bo Schollenberger is everything Lucky isn’t. Lucky slurps coffee, Bo lives caffeine free. Lucky worships bacon, Bo eats tofu. Lucky trusts no one, Bo calls suspects by first name. Yet when the chips are down on their shared case of breaking up a drug diversion ring, they may have more in common than they believe.

Two men. Close quarters. Friction results in heat. But Lucky scoffs at partnerships, no matter how thrilling the roller-coaster.  Bo has two months to break down Lucky’s defenses… and seconds are ticking by.

About Eden

Our heroine sits quietly in her cube, just one of many, typing, filing, and breaking the occasional nail, hiding her true identity beneath her clever disguise of nerdy glasses and business suits (with sensible shoes!). Frantic eyes watch the clock as she waits impatiently for the ruse to end and her true calling to begin.

With eager anticipation she drives her average car to her average home, and eats her average (vegetarian and completely healthy!) meal alone. The minutes tick by, and when the sun finally sets she leaps tall sofas in a single bound, shedding her disguise to take on her true super heroine persona! Is she in such a rush to save the world? Save the city? Save the neighbor’s kitten from a tree! No! She liberates her laptop from the evil clutches of arch villain, Hall Closet, and flings it open to free the worlds hiding within its depths. There are lonely werewolves searching desperately for mates, spoiled rich boys just waiting for her gentle caress of the keyboard to create someone who’ll truly understand them, and futuristic soldiers, gunning across the universe to save the men they love… No scenario is too bizarre! A time traveling pirate? No problem! Violin playing specter haunting a Scottish castle? You betcha!

When she’s not busily creating happy-ever-afters for fictional hotties, our heroine enjoys music, the great outdoors, and cruising down the highway on the back of a Harley Davidson.

You can visit Eden at her blog, website, and GoodReads.

  • Hey, there’s actually going to be a contest next week. 🙂
  • If linkity seems a bit sparse this week, it’s because I’m tired (from a thunderstorm that started really early this morning and kept me awake) and a bit frazzled (I have a handyman here this week to do a partial bathroom remodel).

Reading Update
Breakaway: The Inside Story of the Pittsburgh Penguins’ Rebirth by Andrew Comte. Good look at the decline and rise of the Pittsburgh Penguins, from 2004 through the beginning of the 2010 season when the new arena opened. I started reading this shortly before GM Ray Shero was fired and finished it the day before Coach Dan Bylsma was fired (although after Shero was fired, I assumed Bylsma would go, too). So I read this from an odd, sort of cynical place…

At this point, I have no upcoming contests on the schedule at all. *waits for everyone to recover* I definitely will still do contests for authors who email me or send me a PM on Goodreads, but I’m not actively drumming up contest business these days – after five years of doing so, I’ve grown a bit weary of the whole process, which my introverted self has always found exhausting. When I started hosting m/m book giveaways lo! those many years ago, there weren’t a whole lot of options (beyond Jessewave and Elisa Rolle) for m/m authors to let readers know about new work. The Goodreads m/m group was maybe a year old and didn’t have many members. There were a few m/m review blogs such as Jenre, Kassa, DIK (Desert Island Keepers), and Kris’n’Good Books, but they were a fraction of the number of m/m review blogs available now. And m/m books were being released at a slow enough rate that we could read nearly everything as it came out.

So yeah, both authors and readers have a lot more options these days. I’ll still be among those options, but at a more sedate pace/level than previously. I’ll still be doing the Misadventures in Stock Photography most Mondays and Linkity most Fridays. And you can always keep an eye on things via my RSS feed.

Many, many thanks to all the authors and readers who’ve supported Stumbling Over Chaos (and whom I’ve had the opportunity to support) over the years!
