In which absolutely no kitties will be going to the vet today *nudge nudge wink wink*

  • Crazy, crazy weather here – yesterday, it hit 80F.
  • The normal high for April 1 is 49F; the record was 82F… in 1882.
  • It’s been really dry, so things aren’t as green as you would expect with those temperatures.
  • The flooding you hear about is from our too-fast snowmelt while the ground was still frozen.
  • We do have rain in the forecast for the next few days…
  • Nothing to worry about re: the title of this post – just their regular annual checkup.
  • I prepare for this event by getting both cat carriers out a few days early.
  • At this point, if I don’t ‘fess up to leaving one of the cat carriers out all the time, Jeanne will share that tidbit for me. 😉
  • What can I say? I don’t want the cat carriers appearing to be a “zOMG! Flee! Flee! Flee!” trigger.
  • And they like to nap in the carrier that I leave out all the time.
  • I tossed some kitty treats in each carrier last night… baiting the kitty traps, as it were.
  • It never fails to amuse me that in the property description for my condo, my outdoor parking spot is described as my “garden apartment”.
  • Can’t say much for its ambiance.
  • Have a great weekend, everyone, be it a holiday for you or not! 🙂

  1. Elliot the Evil cat had a trip to the vets this week too for the same reason. I’m afraid our kitty carrier is always a ‘flee’ trigger so I have to go for the stealth approach of sneaking up on her when she’s asleep, nabbing her and stuffing her in the car carrier before she’s woken up properly.

I probably find this more amusing/satisfying than I should really :).

  2. I had to wash my pussy yesterday.

My 16 pound fluffy pussy named Velcro.
Let’s just say she was very good and I did not lose any blood in the process. So remember folks Spring is here and wash your pussy.

  3. Yes, I got the notice in the mail a few days ago letting me know that Atticus is due for his checkup. I have to start mentally preparing myself for that now.

    Good luck. With Chaos.

  4. Glad to hear your kitties are okay, and that it’s just a routine visit. Great idea about getting the carriers out in advance like that — I’ll be trying that trick in the future. Fishing a cat out from under a king sized bed once it’s seen the carrier in nearly impossible. 🙂

  5. WATCH OUT, kitties! We always manage to hide when it’s time to go to the vet. You never know what’s going to happen there. Remember that ONE time they did that operation!?

  6. Weather is the same here Chris. Going to be nearly 80 today and tomorrow where normal is low 40’s. Freaky. We had no snow in March at all, only happened 3 times in the last hundred years or so. Very dry, all open fires are banned. I’m loving it but we need the rain.

Good luck on the check-up. Hope they behave well.

  7. I wonder how it is cats and dogs always seem to know when they are going to the vet. Although Django and Abner both love to go to the vet and see all the people. Basil enjoys it too. I have wierd pets I think.

  8. Best of luck on the vet visit! Rippy had to be muzzled at the vet, even though in real life he was the sweetest kitty. My family’s other cat likes the vet so much she purrs the whole time, and they have trouble hearing her heart.

  9. Simon likes to sleep in his carrier, too. Of course, Simon will let you pick him up and do pretty much whatever you want!

  10. You should take them in their cat carriers to the Vet parking lot on non-vet days just to show them who’s boss. 😉

Then reward them with ice cream, or better yet, whipped cream… Six and Callie, my Maine Coon and Calico, love that. The cream part… not the vet in the car part.

  11. Mayhem, the vet isn’t mean – plus you get bribed and your mom will feel bad so she’ll do nice things with you afterwards.

I totally leave our carriers (both of them) out too – Zoie likes to stash toys in one of them and the other is under my desk and Ellie likes to sleep in it while I work (sometimes). The funny part is that one of the carriers is quite large – so that both kitties go to the vet in the same carrier. Ellie is more brave (most of the time) than Zoie – so Zoie hides in the back of the carrier and Ellie sits in the front, protecting her. We bring a spare carrier in the car because sometimes Ellie is very very upset after her visit with the vet and isn’t nice to Zoie until we get home.

  12. Oh wow… Well here is to a safe trip to the vet… May no loss of blood, hair, or patience be lost!!
Happy Friday!!! And Happy Easter Chocolate day!

  13. We’re terrible cat-parents, but Shelli HATES the carrier. HATESHATES. We put her in her harness and leash in the car and she’s fine on my lap, and then we cram her in the carrier at the last minute once we actually get to the vet. Cruel, I know, but it’s the best plan available;). Hope the vet experience is a relatively peaceful one.

Happy Bunny day…hope there’s no Easter-grass strung poop in your house in the coming week;).

  14. yup yup – beware those cat treats in the carriers, they are a sure sign of a trap.. and remember when they poked us with those sharp owie things? that hurt for days… signed Miss Em and Lady Di

  15. It’s been in the 80s and very dry here too.

The ferrets love going to the vet. Katie Cat, not so much. 🙂 I’ve tried leaving the cat carrier out, but Katie will have none of it. I do the quick grab and stuff into the carrier hidden in the laundry room.

I hope your vet trip is reasonably calm.

  16. Good luck with the field trip! Here’s hoping for minimal blood loss for you and the vet. You should probably get yourself a nice treat afterward, too. 🙂

  17. Isn’t this weather nuts? It’s positively tropical here in Chicago, too!

Good idea re: the cat carriers. I have a very specific process that allows me to cram Kylie in her carrier. Paul can’t do it!!!

  18. Poor babies! This is one thing that is much easier with dogs. They leave the house, they know something good is usually happening, and a ride in the car? EVEN BETTER… a walk, a visit to someplace new, and only once in a rare while the vet. Which Zuzu totally doesn’t care about, though Gracie isn’t so sure. And they LOVE their kennels… those vari kennels. They are their “beds”… they generally don’t have the gates on them, but the last couple times Sid was here, we had to gate Gracie, otherwise she guarded the whole bedroom. Put the gate up, and she was quiet and went right to sleep. Clearly a different intelligence than a cat (not more, not less, just different).

  19. routine visits can be $$$. I think Cosmo is secretly having me make payment plans for a wing at our vet hospital.

I used to leave our old carrier out and I would find them both napping in it (It was big enough for two). So cute.

    ps. reading catch me…

  20. Nothing to worry about re: the title of this post – just their regular annual checkup.

Am glad you clarified that. I’m invariably taking Bill (there was originally a Ted I believe – I’m not his original owner and so didn’t name him or his brother…I named my cat Tyrant…note, no ‘h’ *grin*) to the vet because he is losing weight and he is due for an injection for his arthritis (the trials and tribulations of being owned by a 16 1/2 year old cat 🙂 Luckily he’s back above 5 kg. Fingers crossed that continues going into winter. And while I love him he isn’t the brightest of the bunch (unlike Ty, who was cunning [and the devil] incarnate 🙂

  21. Do they really file their nails on that scratcher-thingy?

No new laptop for me. New desktop though. MAYBE a new netbook…

  22. Oh you are horrible, lmbo… but i like him with his head chopped off too, lmbo!

And those kitties of yours…. lol!

I hope yo had a wonderful Easter weekend Chris!!! Happy Monday!
