Misadventures in Stock Photography (Part the Nineteenth: Another Guy in a Tie)

Kris was actually the first to find this guy on a few covers, but she has graciously given me permission to expand on her post. Thanks, Kris!

Meet Tie Guy Two (or Tie Guy, Too, if you prefer). iStockphoto had many different photos of TGT, with and without his tie. Here are several examples, although so far I haven’t seen any covers using that second photo, for some reason. 😉

“Don’t make me mad. You won’t like it when I’m mad.”

As our story begins, TGT says, “

. When we hang out together at

, I insist that you

.” Yeah, whatever – spiffy red tie you have there, TGT. And the tail… well. You really, really should have horns with that tail. Just sayin’.

Alas, the red tie and tail must’ve clashed with his aviator goggles, since he switched back to the grey.

And now, back to our incoherent little story. TGT hired a

with whom to share some

. But

didn’t tell poor TGT about certain… complications in his life, such as his girlfriend. Realizing that he was now stuck in the thankless role of

and all around

, TGT abandoned his dreams of

and called his now ex an

as he went forth to start his new life. Having been

in the arts of financial management as well as in the arts of pleasure, TGT found a nice banking job

that didn’t require him to wear a shirt with his tie. The end. Thankfully! 🙂

“Oh, no! Another wicked, wicked boy! I can’t bear to look.” -Mayhem

  1. I totally busted out laughing at the second pic. I will never be able to look at another cover with TGT without seeing that scary, pumped-up-on-steroids face. lol
I wonder if anyone has ever purchased that image off istock, and if so, what they hell they would use it for?

  2. How does Tie Guy find the time to go to the gym to get buffed up when he’s running about town like that??! Not to mention how tired he must be. All the time.

  3. The 2nd photo screams “laxative ad” to me. 😀

I KNOW about the hair – he’s perfect for some photoshopped hair adventures, isn’t he?! He didn’t even get horns on that Lucifer cover. *tsk tsk tsk*

  4. Horns or no horns, TGT is creepy (but maybe that’s because the 2nd pic is burned into my brain). When are you going to do my cover guys, Chris? Do mine! Do mine!

  5. The Fox and the Heir — OMFG! Could he look any dorkier? The tie knot looks like it’s balancing on his Adam’s apple!

And, yeah, the second photo…imagine that lurching out of a dark alley. I can see the headline now: “Bonus is denied; executive runs amok!”

  6. I’m with Lily — I think Tie Guy looks very peculiar with just a tie and no shirt. And I was surprised at how many covers he’s on. Tie Guy gets around!

And this from K.Z. about the second photo(I just about died laughing): And, yeah, the second photo…imagine that lurching out of a dark alley. I can see the headline now: “Bonus is denied; executive runs amok!”

  7. I don’t know. It’s seems like TGT is just tossed into a lot of random covers, isn’t he? I mean, it seems like sometimes your stock guys go with the story, but TGT seems more like an “I don’t really care what you put on the cover — just make sure he has a bare chest” kind of decision.

  8. Val: SO many of these cover models just really get around, don’t they?! 😉

sprite: *snerk* I think you’re on to something there!

  9. Well, as they say Recycling Matters, and TGT is sure getting recycled. Once again I love the captions! Perfect.. lol

And, wow that cover with the red glow and Red TG, um, just wow! That tail is, very strange.

I know what you mean Mayhem. 😉

  10. I have to say that the Indian Giver cover was pretty horrible even in the land of horrible covers. I feel like his look would make more sense if he had a sport jacket held over one shoulder, though that might make him too Miami Vice.

  11. The tie with no shirt and dress pants just looks weird to me. Course it’s hard to have a good impression of TGT after that second picture.

The Indian Giver cover totally gets the worst cover award out of this bunch.

  12. I’m surprised that the same image has been used for so many covers. “Call Me Lucifer” is my favorite, but then I have a thing for sexy demons. I hope my husband doesn’t find out about stock photos or he might not spend so much time doing my covers anymore.
