In which I show off some yarn and goodies

KnittyMama is having a contest to celebrate moving her blog and that everyone in her family has birthdays over the next few weeks. Leave a comment with a birthday story or just wish the KnittyFamily happy birthday by midnight CDT, April 15, and you could win DPN rolls or yarn!

Ages and ages ago, KnitNZu sent me a little thank you package with a cute little bag she made (very handy for carrying knitting miscellania), as well as some black and purple cotton yarn and an amusing card. Thank you, KnitNZu!

“That card is so right. Big kitty and I will have to get that Dealing with Difficult Owners book.” -M

Blogless Jan decided I needed some cheering up and she sure knows how to manage that!

“Mayhem! Bring back Feathers McGraw!” -me

*mumble* -M

Please note that no penguins were hurt in the previous escapade – Feathers McGraw was rescued before coming to harm. Jan also sent some lovely pictures of her cat Merry, a gluten-free brownie mix (yum!), and a very cute little sheep purse. Thank you, Jan – you definitely brought a smile to my face!

I’ve also picked up some yarn recently… (I’n sure Marina’s saying “I knew it!”) Hmm, maybe this isn’t the best picture of my acquisitions…

“Stand back, May. This is work for an experienced yarn sniffer.” -C

“Whatever, big kitty.” -M

I guess this picture is a little better… From the top left, a skein of Seacoast Merino Sock, Coal and Fire, from Yarn4Socks. May’s head is mostly obstructing a lovely skein of purple superwash bluefaced leicester from Maeve at Knitting Musings (Maeve has a much better picture, with no feline obstructions – Cricket must be slacking off!). On the bottom, Regia Crazy Colors in Passion and Regia Nation Colors in Fun Nation (both from Yarn4Socks). (Yes, yes, I know I’ve already knit a pair of socks from Fun Nation. What can I say? I’m a sucker for those wide stripes…)

“Ha – I can sniff yarn just as well as the big kitty. In fact, I’m sure I do it with more panache and definitely with more tail!” -M

  1. Hee hee.. looks like May has a thing for penguins! My kittie likes to steal tiny lego men from my son’s pirate ships… very sneaky. I love the yarns!

  2. Argh! Where are you finding that rainbow striped yarn! My LYS has 1 ball. 1 stinkin’ ball. And they won’t order more for me.

Hehe, I’m bidding on an identical W&G toy set on ebay. That sheep purse has the cutest eyes!

  3. You need one of those vertical hanging racks for displaying your yarn there. Can’t see the pretty stuff past the kitty tails.

  4. ROFLOL!
Ah, May, yes definitely with more tail, but Chaos has much more experience – his finesse makes up for your over-exuberance!
(Great haul Chris! Love the yarns…)
    (((hugs)))

  5. Yep, that yarn is definitely me! I’ve got to get myself some. I love the pink Regia too. I have some of that waiting to be knit in something other than an eyeglass cover.

  6. How nice of Jan! Excellent gifts and yarn (what we can see of it!). May certainly keeps busy. Come to think of it, it is usually Chaos we see asleep and May getting into, well, mayhem.

  7. Chaos and May should be doing search and rescue work with all of that sniffing! Maybe you could have the first gang of scent tracking cats? 🙂

  8. My wife made catnip socks for our cats, now they go apeshit at all hours. I’m thinking of putting some yarn out and just see what they come up with in their little catnip den (aka our entire house)

  9. I love that he came over and swiped one in the middle of your picture taking! Or was it a setup? Because sometimes I leave food on the table and then hide around the corner to see if my dogs will try and eat it. If they do I jump out and yell “NO!” Because how am I supposed to train them what not to do if I’m not around to see them do it? Right?

  10. Wow that’s some great cheering up. And I recognize that sheep purse, I have the same sheep but stuffed and I bought it in Ireland! I wonder where I put the thing, I had to hide all my stuffed animals from ABner as he thinks they are all snugglies to be destroyed.

Love the Wallace and Grommit figurines though. I need those for my typecase (a case that printers used to put their wood type in which I have on my wall (as my dad was a printer) to put little things like that in.

  11. Could you please please pretty please ask where she got the Wallace and Gromit clan and if she’s ship some to me if I paid her? I LOVE them and was hip to them before they went on the big screen and I’ve always wanted the figurines.

  12. Money may not buy happiness, but judiciously applied to very thoughtful presents and very lovely yarn, it sure can attract some your way!

  13. I hope you are feeling better lately; I read a few posts back that you had the blues, and I can certainly relate. It’s been dreary and cold here, and even the cats looked down in the dumps. But today it was about 60F and I opened the window, and Charlie jumped up on to the sink counter to look out. It made me very happy, as he hasn’t done that in a few months. We’ll feel better soon, and in the meantime, all that new yarn you have, and the care packages, is a great pick-me-up!
