So Sunday I was on my bicycle, heading over to the Greenway to put in a few miles on the trails, when the car in front of me stopped unexpectedly. I stopped quickly and didn’t crash or wipe out, but I did manage to catch my right calf on the front sprocket.
Since I didn’t see anything that suggested stitches, I continued on to bike about seven miles before heading home to scrub bike grease out of my cuts. Here’s a before scrubbing picture:
Heck, it doesn’t look half bad using the flash.
This is what it looked like Tuesday evening – can you see the bruises forming? That’s going to be darn colorful in a few days.
“I’m outta here. You might fall on me or something.” -Chaos
“Remember, kids, don’t try this at home! Mom’s a highly clumsy but relatively experienced cyclist.” -Chaos
OUCH! That IS going to be one colorful leg.
I’m glad you weren’t hurt worse!
Man, that looks like it hurt when you got it and is going to be sore for a while. Here’s hoping you heal up fast and are feeling better already.
Also, just wanted you to know I’ve nominated you for an award. More info at: http://ladyvampire2u.blogspot.com/2009/07/ive-been-awarded.html
Ooo, ow ow ow! Ick, those bruises look pretty gross…
Sometimes it’s the ones that don’t really hurt at the time that look the worst. How did you clean it?
Ouch is right! That’s a mighty good looking bruise building up. Don’t push on it just to feel how tender it is. Chaos, you should be more helpful!
Ouch! :/
OW! What a guy, that Chaos! Commenting on how clumsy you are and not being sympathetic at all!!
Ouch! I’m glad you managed to get all the grease off, or you would have had an interesting tattoo on your leg!
Looks almost like the cats were using you as a scratching post. Are you sure you didn’t make up the bike story to cover for a sparkly pink mousie incident or something?
Hope it heals up quickly. Looks like it stings a lot. Triple antibiotic ointment!
Ouch! I hope Chaos is a little more comforting off-blog…
Ouch! Chaos is making a perfect “yikes” face. LOL!
At least you didn’t go head over handlebars or bend the front wheel.
That does look painful. I hope it heals quickly!
Chris- I was looking at the toenails. You vixen you!
Ow, ow, ow!!!
Ouch! Hope it doesn’t leave a scar. Hugs from afar.
OUch. Here’s hoping you heal quickly!
Ow! Horrible! Good for you that you didn’t let it stop you from a nice ride, though. Hope it heals up fast.
Owie!
Pretty! I bet the kitties thought you were attacked by a very large cat!
I had to count the number of scratches to make sure you weren’t covering up for what was really a kitty attack. But unless either Mayhem or Chaos have six toes, I guess they’re innocent.
Owie! Sorry it happened, and I hope it heals quickly. Nice toenail polish.
Ow! Make sure you put bacitracin or something on those scratches — and post more pictures of the bruises as they come in!
And nice toenail polish…
Hope you heal up soon! I haven’t done that much bike riding, but I am clumsy enough to trip on invisible rocks in the road when I’m running!
A dog would lick it! And you know they say that ouchies heal faster with doggy licks.
That does look pretty painful – at least you didn’t wipe out….no need to add a dose of embarrassment to that.
That is definitely going to be “pretty.” I hope it doesn’t hurt too much as it heals. Do May & Chaos do what my cats do, try to help by snuggling with what hurts?
Road rash is a terrible, terrible thing! I’m glad yours looks like it’s healing well, and you didn’t have a close encounter of the automotive kind. I ride in fear of that myself.
I’m just glad that there was no collision. Drove by a biker being put in an ambulance this morning who wasn’t so lucky. So many bikers on campus have no brakes on their bikes!
Hope the bruises heal up quickly! For a kitty who never leaves the house, Chaos is rather judgemental.
Oh ouch!! But thankful you were not seriousy hurt!! I am glad for that!
Oh a positive note.. congrats on cycling that far distance… I am not a cycler of any kind… I feel like my rear is bigger than it should be and I need those big cusiony seats to make the ride more comfortable.
Ouch! Hope that heals up nicely!
Oh my goodness, that looks painful. I’ve been lucky since I started biking again; my only injuries so far have been scraped knuckles (mainly from the contortions required to lock my bike in my building’s weird bike room setup).
On the plus side, that sprocket scar gives you amazing street-cred 🙂
Ouch!
Chaos does look like he’s delivering a public service announcement.
OMCC (oh my ceiling cat) that looks painful! The Greenway looks like a great walk/ride (as based on the photos on their website).
Ouch! Another reason to keep of my bike 🙂
ouch, so far this has been a painful summer. Maybe we need a re-do
Ouch! Looking forward to more “colorful pictures”! 😉
You’ve taken the “red, white and blue” theme to another level!
Me-OUCH!
Who said bicycling was good for your health?
OWW! Throw some aloe vera gel on the scratches 2-3 x a day (it won’t sting at all – really) and you will have no sacr.
Double ouch!!! Poor you Chris – yikes!!
I think if you go to my blog there will be something that may make you feel better. 😉
L
Ouch! See this is a prime example why I always want to wear jeans while bike riding, but hot weather has prevailed and Nick finally convinced me to at least were capris.
OUCH!!
Aloe Vera and Witch Hazel. It’ll really help.
So glad you weren’t hurt worse.
Chaos looks like he is actually talking.
ouch!! hope it’s not too awful bad!
Ouch! You’re going to have a colorful leg for a while. Hope it heals quickly though.
yikes! owowow!
Ow! That must be sore. Hope it heals really fast.
Ouch! That looks like a very sore scratch.
I know this might sounds a lil’ strange, but are you going to post us a picture of the bruise in full color?
Did you have to give Chaos a tranquilizer after that? He looks a little freaked!!
ouch ouch ouch..
so sorry – it looks like a pretty nasty injury. I hope it heals up fast!
