In which no cats were forced to wear baby socks

Ok, I actually did do a little bit of Christmas knitting – I knit a pair of socks for my friends’ baby from some of the stripey purple and black yarn Jeanne dyed for my birthday. I immediately attempted to get pictures of a cat wearing them, but the cats, they were having none of that. Instead, I present pictures of baby socks lying on or near cats. I know it’s a poor substitute.

“Why did you put these things on me?!” -C

“Maybe if I ignore them, they’ll go away.” -C

“Don’t you move those things any closer. I’m getting wise to your sneaky ways, Mom.” -M

  1. cats on socks, socks near cats, fox in socks, cats in box–hey, it’s all good as far as i’m concerned.

at my MIL’s request, we tried to get a simple pic of ourselves (we two silly 2-leggeds) in front of the xmas tree merely holding the 3 cats (camera on tripod w/timer)–no garments on cats, no garments near cats, mind you–and the cats were having none of that either.

    darn cats.

i must say, they DO catch on quickly.

  2. those socks would have been toast if I’d put them on my cat’s back… first into the mouth, then up would come the back feet with a thumping motion..
    not a pretty picture. hah!

  3. I love the socks, they are so cute! But more than cute socks (wha?!), I love putting stuff on my kitty and seeing how much I can get away with. Seems like May isn’t going to be a push over like Big Cat Chaos and will fight the stuff.

  4. Great photos! The socks are adorable too…I should somehow blog about the time I tried to put a human leg warmer on The Meezer…yes, there’s a good reason why – but I thought the neighbors would call the police b/c I was battering a baby (you know how Siamese can cry like one?)
That should give you a good mental pic!
    (((hugs)))

  5. Haha, I saw those pictures and though of Stuff on My Cat like Trek did. You should send in a cat w/ bib picture 😉

And lovely socks, I’m sure they’ll look as great on a baby as they do on cats. 🙂

  6. Hahahahaha, torture those kitties! Cats are so much worse than dogs at tolerating our need to dress them up! I wondered if Chaos would’ve tolerated the sockies on his ears, even for a moment (probably not!). The socks are nice.

  7. OH I SO would have loved to see those socks on the kitties, but I dont think they’d last long on them. I’m surprised that Chaos allowed them ON him!! LOL Mayhem is learning quickly.

  8. random thought…

i’m finally going to make my way over to lettuce knits either this week or next… i’ve located it’s exact location and am preparing myself for the excursion across town into the kensington area…

br will enjoy the cheap veggies and meats of the market, i will enjoy the yarn and other said goodies available…

    yay!

  9. The baby socks are so cute! So are chaos and mayhem! I have to chuckle at the their facial expression. Chaos does disdain so well and mayhem is definitely a diva-in-training!

  10. That looks like a twin to my cat Naava (sounds like aaaah, like you say to a doctor). Same eyes, coloring and markings…well, all except the tail…she just has a tiny stub (she’s a bobtail manx). She’s like that about me trying to get her to do things also. Love those socks…just beautiful. I just learned (after 40 years) how to knit in the round, and socks are my next thing to learn to do. Right now I am giddy with joy knitting hats LOL. ~Tricia
