The Collage Ideas BookThe Collage Ideas Book by Alannah Moore. Very good look at many different ways to do collage using examples from collage artists. This is definitely an inspiration book rather than a how-to.
Discovering Gluebooks: How to Stop Focusing on Products & Start Making More ArtDiscovering Gluebooks: How to Stop Focusing on Products and Start Making More Art by Lisa Vollrath. Good overview, examples, and gluebook how-tos. (You make a gluebook by collaging things you already have, such as junk mail, magazines, glue sticks, etc. No special products or expertise required.)

  1. Ugh. The 1980’s thing. I hadn’t really thought about it, but yes. It does feel that recent, and I think the thing you linked is related to why. We’re still easily able to access the 80’s… so it can’t be that long ago. (Actually, we’re better able to access 80’s pop culture NOW then we were IN THE 80’s. It’s a trip.)

Thanks for the linkity link! Scritches to the kittehs. Sorry, I mean the mini panthers.

And um. That list of things to declutter. It me.

  2. OK, for those of you worried about the 1980/2000 thingy, here’s what you have to look forward to:

You’re walking down the street and you see someone you went to high school with. You know, the one with the really young parents that all you kids were hot for? But why is your friend still 16?

Then you remember how, shall we say adventurous, that friend was. Said adventuring resulting in a child before graduation (just fact, not shaming). But your friend’s child still couldn’t be the person you’re looking at.

No, in fact, since it seems like youthful adventuring was a tradition in that family, the child of your long lost friend is the Grandparent of the 16 year old you’re looking at now.

Yes, a variation of this story has happened to me. And yes, my friend is a Great Grandparent. And yes, I’m a couple months older than they.

And no, I’m not on Social security yet, but will be, sooner than I like to think about. Happy New Decade everyone.
