Reading Update
A Pacific Northwest Nature Sketchbook by Jude Siegel. Pretty good detailed description of how to keep a nature sketchbook/watercolor journal, with lots of specific examples from the Pacific Northwest (that bit got old by the end). I did get some great quotes on creativity out of this one.
The Nightmare Stacks (Laundry Files #7) by Charles Stross. Don’t start this one anywhere near your bedtime… D’oh! This is about one of the PHANG’s we met in a previous book, who is trying to adjust to working for the Laundry instead of for an investment baking firm.

  1. Have you ever turned a book into an art journal? I’m interested to do it, but not sure about the amount of prepping the blogger from your link puts into it.

Enjoying your art journals very much. I’ve missed reading you; I dropped off the face of the earth for a bit. I’m back.

  2. “Dear Thilak. Think we could get them to terraform our moons?”
“Psh, they’d probably pay for the privilege.” and “You’re telling me that you have… settlements. On islands with active volcanism?”
Lol, just thinking this ties in nicely with the bit about rich Americans buying land in New Zealand!

Also, I had no idea there were so many book themed mugs about!

  3. I think Jeanne would completely disown me as a friend if I decided to sleep in a car hammock. America’s Best Value Inn was bad enough… 🙂

That paper art is pretty neat! I’m excited about the Bowie stamps – hopefully I’ll be able to get some. I saw that you all have some great Year of the Rooster stamps at the USPS at the moment.

  4. i had NO IDEA we were briefly in the running to be glorious Americans. I would still be up for it, but I’ll wait 4 years, if it’s all right with y’all.

  5. I love the dragon linkity! I have seen those dragon sculptures before, back when there was a “Dancing Dragon” mail order catalog. (I almost bought some. Alas, I did not.) And I want art of a house dragon trying to fit in a box. That is awesome.

I love that Netherlands video, too. So perfect.

And I must get some of those reading mugs. Especially the book dragon one.
