I just bought a new desktop computer (scheduled for delivery today – yippee!), and Larry got a new laptop a few weeks ago – but we bought business computers so we could get Windows 7 Pro on them instead of Windows 8.
Hopefully by the time we need to change again, there will be a better option. I’ve had decent luck with that. I never had to deal with Windows pre-Win95 – I went from DOS to OS/2 to Win95, then to XP Pro, which I’m still on at home, though I used Windows 7 at work. I was able to completely avoid Vista altogether. Maybe I’ll be able to skip Windows 8 as well.

I know the Windows 8 woes. Did you get a touch screen? (I hope so as it is slightly less woeful with one than without and I felt like I was in a strange foreign land the first time I saw Windows 8)
