Congrats to Cayce, who won Noble Metals by L.A. Witt!

Welcome to another edition of the Misadventures in Stock Photography! Today weรขโ‚ฌโ„ขll be catching up with Trying To Tip His Hat Guy (TTTHHG).

Well. That makes less sense than usual, which is really saying something. ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. Really, couldn’t they have spent a little more time in Photoshop and removed the disembodied fingertips on the hat in Temptation and Trio. That just looks creepy. The top of the other guy’s head is also fading away in Trio.

  2. He was a little pretty for a cowboy in my eyes. I have to agree with some others that he definitely didn’t make sense on some of the covers. It’s a good picture, although I like without the darker shadows created on a few covers that made it very difficult to see his eyes. I have only recently noticed that authors often use the same photograph on their covers as many other authors do.

  3. I think it is sad that the authors often have little to no input on the covers. In another group I belong to, we talked about this. One of the posters had a friend of a friend thing where the author’s book had been out for 2 years. When the synopsis/back cover was posted, everyone was intrigued. The person posting had read the novel and reviewed the actual writing well. When we saw the cover, we were all turned off. What was sad was this was the author’s first book. She had not had great sales and the publisher wasn’t all that happy, mostly because of the cover *they* chose.
