Misadventures in Stock Photography: Part the 72nd (Everywhere Guy)

Congrats to Laura/Adara, who won Cup Check (Blue Line Hockey #3) by Stephani Hecht! Cup Check was released by eXtasy Books on May 1.

Welcome to another edition of the Misadventures in Stock Photography! Today we’ll be meeting Everywhere Guy, whose real name is Jimmy Thomas. I haven’t done a Misadventure with Jimmy Thomas before because, well, he’s everywhere (his stock photo site notes that he’s on over 1000 covers) and it just seemed too easy. But then I made a little bet with myself that I could do an entire Misadventure from one publisher’s Jimmy Thomas covers… and I won! Not just a Misadventure, but an epic Misadventure!

The

discovered that

aspects of

were unfortunately

deep in

, at the

, right next to

. This inspired

to share this story about a friend of his: “So I’m hanging out at the bar with the rest of the

, hearing all about

, when

with some chick and drags her and her friend over to our table and that’s when

. Too bad he didn’t realize then that she was actually

and that the

was actually part of her irresistible

, which was

, too.

, I knew that we

long before Trey made his

(and then felt like he had to

) in front of the

(who had such amazing

, I couldn’t tear my eyes away). Yeah, I know that

, so I was all in favor of that

because I didn’t realize it would land me in this

.”

  1. I wonder if Everywhere Guy ever met Nowhere Man? Again with the Photoshop tats. I think they would look more realistic if they left the photos alone, then got some of those bubbgle gum lick ’em and stick ’em tats and applied them right to the book covers.

  2. Wow, he really is everywhere. You could practically make a story with the Silver Sparkle Short Stories alone. Wait, I think you did. 😉 Well done!

  3. I just want to say that your skills are awesome. I have this picture in my head of you looking at all the pictures laid out on a table and putting them together like a puzzle.

    Everywhere guy is everywhere!

  4. Now that I am looking, really looking at covers, I am amazed at the number of stock photos used. If I were an author and I had any say at all, I wouldn’t use Jimmy Thomas because he is so recognizable. Mayhem, feel the love. Don’t be a cranky pants.

  5. I love tattoos, but I think I am over the photoshop tats. Especially the chest ones (well, and the hawk). They just don’t like that realistic, because they don’t curve over and around the muscles right.

  6. LOL, an epic misadventure indeed. He really is everywhere.
But I have to say that a few of the covers are quite good even if it’s stock photos we’re seeing.

  7. lol Imagine how many misadventures you can mix only with Everywhere man. Thank you 🙂

  8. Looks like I got a second cover on your misadventures page. LOL

Surprised to see there wasn’t a single one of the Silver Halloween cover there though. Though he is not quite as easy to recognise in it there are a LOT of them for you to use for your stories.

Oh and in case Tam doesn’t yet know, Jimmy runs his own company. He doesn’t just model, he set up his own company to provide romance novel covers. Brains as well as beauty and, from all accounts, a really nice guy as well.
