Misadventures in Stock Photography: Part the 67th (Smirking Guy)

Congrats to Nikyta, who won Looking for Adventure by Valentina Heart!

Congrats to Sandy Jay, who won Wrong Number, Right Guy by Mia Watts! Wrong Number, Right Guy was released by Amber Allure on March 27.

Welcome to another edition of the Misadventures in Stock Photography! Today we’ll be meeting Smirking Guy. You may have trouble believing these are all the same guy, but Jordan Castillo Price discovered the stock photo evidence! (Thanks, Jordan!)

  1. You are good – imagine checking Photoshop even – that is dedication! The Eve one is a bit odd – trying to do a Talker but failing.

  2. I’m so glad that Smirking Guy is on the Type Effects Photoshop disc rather than the Bad Long Hair Effects disc that some publishers use with such reckless abandon. I wonder if that’s a Type Effect all over his face on the Eve cover?

I feel bad for the other model on the Buddy Holiday cover. There probably isn’t too much work for CASBWG (Can’t Apply Sun Block Well Guy).

  3. Maybe CASBWG was actually a victim of the same sharpie as Smirking Guy? After the photo shoot for the book cover, they went to an after-party, got way too drunk, and passed out next to each other.

The pattern looks so odd because someone was doing a pattern that applied to both guys being next to each other, so taken separately they each looks strange. If we saw them next to each other (in the correct positions) we’d be able to appreciate the true brilliance of the artistic vision.

Or maybe I just spend too much time imagining fanciful scenarios for stock photography. If so, I’m in great company 🙂
