Does the first sunburn of the season mean it’s spring?

If so, then I guess it’s spring. 🙂

Take a questionnaire about creativity for a research project that Eve is doing, and you could win one of four $25 Amazon gift certificates. Contest ends May 15.

Looking for an adorable new kitten? Live in central Minnesota? Limedragon has info about a kitten that her aunt recently rescued.

Apparently Mayhem isn’t the only one who’s inspired to acrobatics by flying toys – Deb’s black kitty Sammy sure seems to be enjoying her new toy, doesn’t she?

Over the weekend, I finished that mysterious item I was knitting. Not surprisingly, it was a pair of socks. 🙂 The pattern was my variant of Rebecca’s Spirited Socks pattern, using an early and experimental test dyeing of her Black Beauty colorway. I knit one sock from each end of the ball of yarn.

“Hey, it was past time for a new cat bed around here. Cool.” -Mayhem

“Oh no – a mussed spot on my leg! Nobody look, please!! The shame…” -Mayhem

What? You couldn’t get a good look at the socks?! Ok…

  1. Doesn’t look very comfortable, May! Don’t you know that before you can lay down, you have to scratch it to fluff it up, circle it a couple of times and then for good measure, scratch it a bit more?

  2. Chris- I got a sunburn last week- I couldn’t believe it.

Nice socks- place anything soft on the floor and it’s guaranteed a cat will lay on it.

  3. It was socks? No way! So… Have you counted them yet? Cause I’m still waiting. Maybe we could enter you in the book of world records! *Gasp* I could know someone famous!

Btw, my boy is a tard. I gave him your package to mail out and then just assumed that he had. He didn’t. I found it in his car yesterday. I’ll be mailing it out this week.

  4. Oh you prodigious sock knitters….. Know what I noticed this winter for the first time? Sun damage on my forearms! Gads…. subtle, but I see it for what it is. In a certain light today I could almost see the line where my rolled up sleeves would be. So, all you youngsters, wear your sunscreen even on your forearms!!!! Or when you’re an old lady of 47, little brown spots will start appearing, and they aren’t cute like freckles.

  5. I like the stitch pattern on these socks — just a little interest, but not too showy.

Yours turned out nice. And so nice of May to break them. Hope your sunburn isn’t too painful. I always start the year with one before I get really serious about sunscreen.

  6. Nice socks! I like the colors. I’m sure May is excited to have her cat bed back. 🙂

Cat Dancers are all the rage with kitties these days.

  7. and here all my friends had been wondering what I would do with so many socks…. a cat bed.. perfect.

and what.. no photos of the sunburn? (or is it alleged sunburn (grin). We had snow (yes! an inch!) here last weekend.

  8. Yep, I would have liked that kitten 🙂 Thank goodness we don’t live in MN or we’d be overrun with felines (oh, hang on a second, we already are!).

Those are beautiful socks – Fraro does lovely work. I’ve been debating what to do with the black beauty she sent me and now I’ve seen how beautifully your socks have turned out…

  9. I really like the color blobs on those socks. (I know, I’m weird, I like color blobs.)

And, purple and black! What a nice change! 😉

  10. Our Perdita does acrobatics as well when she plays – well she did. Hopefully she will be as acrobatic again when out of solitary confinement.
