I had a non-sock, non-bib FO last week! Allow me to present the Child’s Pinwheel Sweater.
I knitted this with KnitPicks Swish (worsted weight) on US9s. From the center, I used Ballerina, Bubblegum, Wisteria, Red Pepper, Fired Brick, Bordeaux, and Navy Blue. I decided not to knit the loops around the edge; instead I did an i-cord bindoff, using the same size needle for the i-cord as I did for the sweater. If I do this sweater again (and it’s so speedy and cute, I probably will), I will set things up so that the beginning of the rounds is at the bottom of the sweater, not at the back of the neck, where either side might be visible. I will also use this “afterthought” armhole instead of the pattern as written.

Poor Chaos! I think we should chip in and get you a decent sized teddy bear or doll to model the baby and kid sized things.

Adorable! Both my sister and cousin are working on that sweater right now, can’t wait to share your post with them. I also helped them to ignore the stupid provisional sleeve deal and do the after-thought sleeve instead. Mine wasn’t very graceful, but it should work easier than the pattern! So cute!

This is a fun knit, isn’t it? Did you use the free pattern from Elann? I knit one of these at the beginning of the summer, and I agree with you that moving the start of the rounds is a good idea. I’ll definitely keep that in mind when I get around to knitting one of these for myself.

That is definitely an advantage of black cats–they don’t clash with the colors of knitted objects nearly so much as brownish-orange fur does.

At least you didn’t put his arms through! I tried a Norah Gaughan swirl sweater which she wrote for Mandalay years ago. Unfortunately, there were errata, which I didn’t know about until after much gnashing of teeth and the pattern was really hard to follow (I got an apology email!), but I’m still intrigued by the spiral motif (even though it still causes nightmares). I may have to make one of these for me.
